Drakenstein Stud’s top-class young stallion One World had a good day on Wednesday when the champion son of Captain Al came up with two smart looking winners at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.
His three-year-old daughter Marketa caught the eye when she won the first race on Wednesday.
Under Brevan Plaatjies, the Greg Ennion trained filly powered home to land the Hollywoodbets Durbanville Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1000m) by a length and a quarter. It was a well deserved first win for Marketa, with the filly having finished second or third in five of her six starts prior to Wednesday.
Bred by Oldlands Stud, Marketa is owned by her trainer in partnership with Etienne Braun.
One World looks to have a very promising son to his name in the form of Better Man. The latter made it back to back wins when he ran out a convincing winner of the Race Coast Incentives Powered By Hollywoodbets C Stakes (1800m).
Under Richard Fourie, the Vaughan Marshall trained three-year-old kept finding gamely to hold off the classy King’s Quest and win by a neck.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Better Man races for Rikesh Seewgoolam and the Wernars family.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2023-2024 and Leading Second Season Sire of 2024-2025, One World has 12 lots on offer at the Two Year Old Sale next month.
