What A Winter(SAF)

R 70,000

(NOM R10,000, LIVE FOAL R60,000)

A dual Equus Champion Sprinter Award winner, What A Winter was the highest rated horse in South Africa in 2013, with a merit rating of 127.  The winner of 15 races, including four Grade 1 races from 1000m to 1200m, What A Winter won the sprinting “Triple Crown”, comprising of the Computaform Sprint in Johannesburg, the Cape Flying Championship in Cape Town (twice) and the Mercury Sprint in Durban.

What A Winter is by three times Champion Sire, Western Winter.  His dam, Waseela, is by the internationally acclaimed broodmare sire Ahonoora, who hails from the family of Hyperion and Pharamond.

As a sire, What A Winter made an impact with his very first crop, being awarded Outstanding New Stallion.  A tough, sound racehorse, he also has a wonderful temperament, which was evident when he was victorious as a 5YO entire in the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint.  Most importantly, he has passed these characteristics onto his progeny. His versatility as a stallion has seen him sire stakes winners from 1000m to 1600m, including Equus Champion Sprinter Russet Air.  He is also the sire of dual Grade 1 Majorca winner, Clouds Unfold and Grade 1 Tsogo Sun Sprint winner Warrior’s Rest.

What A Winter’s progeny are precocious, which is evident in the fact that he has sired three winners of the Grade 3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery in Armando, Dutch Philip and Clouds Unfold.
