Drakenstein Stud’s boom sire What A Winter has some very classy sorts representing him this season, and the champion son of Western Winter struck yet again when the What A Winter filly Miss Cool captured Monday’s G3 Three Troikas Stakes in convincing fashion.
Winner of the G2 Heineken SA Nursery at two, Miss Cool claimed the second graded win of her career when running out a smart winner of Monday’s Turffontein feature.
Now in the care of Candice Dawson, having formerly been with Paul Peter, three-year-old Miss Cool was given a well judged ride by Muzi Yeni in the Three Troikas Stakes.
The What A Winter filly hit the front someway from home and kept pulling out more to win a shade cosily by a length.
Bred by Mike Jolly Breeding, Miss Cool is out of the Miesque’s Approval mare French Rose, a half-sister to Drakenstein’s rising star sire Futura.
The classy filly has now won four of 12 starts, having finished fourth in the G3 Joburg Tourism Magnolia Handicap on her previous start.
Miss Cool’s four time G1 winning sire What A Winter looks on track for a very exciting year in 2023, with the Drakenstein Stud resident also responsible for the unbeaten pair of Love In Winter and Winter Greeting, as well as this season’s G2 TopbetJoburg Spring F And M Challenge heroine Humdinger and The Ready To Run Stakes victor Seeking The One.
