Drakenstein Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion What A Winter had a day to remember on Wednesday.
The multiple Equus Champion had four winners on Wednesday, with What A Winter responsible for two winners at both Hollywoodbets Greyville and Fairview.

Remarkably, What A Winter went close to having a five timer on Wednesday, with the stallion’s daughter Champagne Problems finishing a close second at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

What A Winter gelding The Africa House caught the eye when he won the first race at Fairview on Wednesday.

Under a well judged ride from Charles Ndlovu, the Alan Greeff trained gelding made a winning Fairview debut when he won the Welcome To Nelson Mandela Bay Graduation Plate (1400m) by a head.

Bred by Drakenstein Stud, and formerly in the care of Sean Tarry, the Wernars family owned The Africa House is out of the Trippi mare Rain In Africa.

What A Winter’s second success at Fairview came when his son Final Try won the #Youcanbetonus! Novice Plate (1600m) for Alan Greeff and Richard Fourie.

Racing up with the pace early on, the Lammerskraal Stud bred Final Try, despite hanging, kicked on in the closing stages to score by a comfortable two lengths.

Owned by the Wernars family, Final Try is out of the Jet Master mare Gathering Fame.

Owned by Hollywoodbets Racing, Mvelelo is out of the Silvano mare Orchid Island.
