3RD FIRST CROP WINNER FOR GOLD STANDARD

21 June 2022

Drakenstein Stud’s promising young sire Gold Standard came up with a third first-crop winner when his two-year-old daughter Golden Hostess justified tote favouritism to win impressively at Kenilworth on Tuesday afternoon.
Third on each of her only two previous starts, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained Golden Hostess oozed class with a fine display in Tuesday’s Welcome To Cape Racing Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) over 1200 metres.

Under Aldo Domeyer, Golden Hostess was always travelling strongly in Tuesday’s race, and when she hit the front, it was just a matter of who would finish second.

The Drakenstein Stud bred and owned filly powered away to score impressively by three and a half lengths.

Golden Hostess, who is out of the French Deputy mare Hosta, is a three-parts sister to G2 winner Lanner Falcon.

Golden Standard has made a pleasing start with his first two-year-old runners including the promising pair of Star Coin and Hold My Hand.

A son of inform champion sire Trippi (also responsible for this season’s G1 winners Jet Dark and Sweet Pepper), Gold Standard has two lots on offer at the KZN Yearling Sale.
