Drakenstein Stud’s four time G1 winning sire, and former Horse Of The Year, Futura had a good double at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday.
Futura sired runners won the first and third races on Wednesday, with the stallion’s son Pinetti victorious in the first race, and his daughter Futano winning the third.
The Dennis Bosch trained Pinetti got off the mark when he won the Race Coast Wishes You A Happy Heritage Day Maiden Plate (1000m).
One of two winners on the day for Rachel Venniker, the Futura colt bounded clear to win by nearly two and a quarter lengths.
Described by his rider as a “lovely horse, easy to ride”, Pinetti is out of the Var mare Easy Game.
Bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, Pinetti races for Messrs N Joshua, V Munsamy & Y Munsamy.
Futura struck again when his daughter Futano landed the Bet With Tote Open Maiden (1400m).
Under Rachel Venniker, the Michael Roberts trained filly powered away to score by nearly a length and a half.
Bred by Clifton Stud, Futano races for Erich Buhr. The filly, who is out of the Silvano mare Star Silvano, looked an absolute picture before the race and she ran up to her looks on Wednesday.
Former Horse Of The Year Futura, whose progeny also include the very exciting Future Free, has nine lots on offer at the Two Year Old Sale, including a half-brother (Lot 79) to champion One Stripe.
