DEBUT WINNER FOR FUTURA

4 September 2021

Drakenstein Stud’s four time G1 winning sire Futura has made a tremendous start to his stud career and the champion son of Dynasty came up with an eye catching debut winner at Kenilworth on Saturday.

Futura’s three-year-old son Future Prince stamped himself a colt to follow, when he stormed home to win the third race in taking style.

Under Louis Mxothwa, the Brett Crawford trained colt hit the front some way from home and stayed on to claim the Racing Association Maiden Plate (1200m) by a length and a quarter.

Future Prince, whose conditioner also trained Futura himself, was bred by the Drakenstein Stud.

The colt, who is out of the Trippi mare Pemba Island, was a R150 000 buy from the 2020 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

Future Prince is bred on the same Futura/Trippi cross as G3 winner Vihaan’s Pie and speedy Bauhinia Handicap winner Sweet Future.

South Africa’s Horse Of The Year, Champion Middle Distance Horse and Older Male of 2014-2015, Futura made a blistering start to his stud career, with his first crop headed by a trio of graded stakes winners as well as by Zimbabwe champion Dindingwe.
