FIFTH FIRST CROP WINNER FOR GOLD STANDARD

25 July 2022

Drakenstein Stud’s promising young stallion Gold Standard came up with his fifth winner when Gold Standard’s two-year-old son Let’s Get Together won at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday afternoon.
Trained by Michael Roberts, Let’s Get Together, under Rachel Venniker, raced just off the leaders early in Monday’s www.galloptv.co.za Maiden Plate (1000m). Venniker bought her mount with a challenge shortly after the field turned for home, and Let’s Get Together kept galloping strongly to score a shade cosily by just over half a length.

Bred by Moutonshoek, Let’s Get Together is out of the Manduro mare One Love.

The gelding was an R80 000 purchase from the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.

Let’s Get Together shares his G2 Selangor Cup winning sire Gold Standard with promising two-year-old winners Star Coin, Colloidal Gold, Golden Hostess and Hold My Hand.

Gold Standard is set to be represented in Saturday’s G2 Prosport International Debutante by daughter Golden Hostess, while another daughter, Hold My Hand, is a runner in Saturday’s G1 Thekwini Stakes.

One of nearly 90 stakes winners by his champion sire Trippi, Gold Standard was one of the best of his generation at three where he won both the G2 Selangor Cup and Listed Racing Association Stakes and also finished a close up second in the G1 Cape Guineas.
