2 July 2023

Drakenstein Stud’s four-time G1 winning sire Futura has had another fine year in 2022-2023 thus far, and the champion son of Dynasty struck yet again when Futura gelding Future Pearl ran out an impressive winner of the G3 DStv Gold Vase run at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Hollywoodbets Durban July day.

An impressive winner of the G3 WSB Gold Bowl back in May, the progressive Future Pearl stamped himself as a three-year-old with a bright future with a five-star performance in Saturday’s R250 000 feature race.
Under an inform Richard Fourie, the Sean Tarry-trained Future Pearl made it two graded wins from his last three starts with a stirring performance in Saturday’s Gold Vase. Hitting the front a long way from home, the Futura gelding pulled clear in the closing stages of the race to win as he liked by more than two and three-quarter lengths.

Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Future Pearl has now won four of 13 starts for earnings of R567 625, with the promise of plenty more to come.

Future Pearl, who is out of the Al Mufti mare Arabian Pearl, was a R525 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.

He is one of six stakes winners representing Futura this season, with others including G3 Politician Stakes winner Rockpool, recent Listed World Sports Betting Stormsvlei Stakes heroine Future Girl, Durbanville Cup victor Thefutureisbright, and Listed WSB Scarlet Lady victress Dawnofanewday.
Futura, whose outstanding sire Dynasty is the sire of Saturday’s G3 Splashout 2200 winner Crimson King, also made his presence felt at Fairview one day earlier, with his multiple stakes-winning daughter Ekoria finishing second in the Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes on Friday.
