ONE WORLD COLTS TOP CAPE SALE

26 February 2024

Drakenstein Stud’s red-hot young stallion One World made headlines at Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale when two of his sons made R900 000 apiece to top the one-day auction.

Consigned by Soetendal Estate (Agent), One World colt Godrif Gryffindor (Lot 113) was knocked down to the Hollywood Syndicate for R900,000 on Sunday. The colt is out of the six-time winning Master Of My Fate mare Preferential.

One World colt Undivided (Lot 37), consigned to the sale by Wilgerbosdrift, was sold to Sandy Arundel for R900 000, with this colt out of the winning Flower Alley mare Dipladenia.

One World ended Sunday’s sale as the second Leading Sire by Aggregate, with his ten yearlings to sell fetching R3.37 million, and One World yearlings averaged R337 000 at the 2024 Cape Yearling Sale.

It has been a sensational few days for One World, whose first-crop son One Stripe ran out a convincing winner of the R1 000 000 G3 City Of Cape Town Cape Of Good Hope Nursery on Saturday.

Now a winner of two of just three starts, the Drakenstein Stud-bred colt took his earnings to R692 312 with his win in Saturday’s graded feature.
The Nursery was a double triumph for One World, whose son Lion Rampart ran fourth behind his paternal half-brother One Stripe.

One World, winner of ten of his 14 starts including the 2020 G1 Sun Met, currently ranks as South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire for 2023-2024.
The champion son of Captain Al also ranks as South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs for the current season, with One World’s first crop of two-year-olds having already amassed more than R1.4 million this season.

One World could bid for more feature race success on Saturday with his son Address The Nation entered for the Listed Storm Bird Stakes.
