Drakenstein Stud’s emerging star stallion One World has a cracking crop of two-year-olds this season.
The champion son of Captain Al was at it again on Sunday when his two-year-old daughter Princess Keira won the Highveld Winter Juvenile Fillies Stakes (1400m).
Trained by Sean Tarry, Princess Keira was given a fine ride by Kabelo Matsunyane in Sunday’s R150 000 contest.
Matsunyane bought his mount with a sustained late challenge, which saw Princess Keira storm home to win by a long neck.
Bred by Big Sky Ranch, Princess Keira, who is owned by Kestorm Investments, was winning for a first time when scoring on Sunday.
The filly, who is out of the Kahal mare Princess Stephanie, was a R600 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.
Princess Keira is one of eight two-year-old winners for One World in 2024-2025. The G1 Sun Met is also responsible for this season’s G3 Winter Nursery winner Dreamworld, the stakes placed Three Tigers, and debut winner Educator.
South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire of 2024-2025, One World made a magnificent start to his stud career, with his stellar first crop including dual G1 winner One Stripe.
One World has three lots on offer at the KZN Yearling Sale.
