SECOND WINNER FOR GOLD STANDARD

12 June 2022

Drakenstein Stud’s blue blooded young sire Gold Standard came up with his second winner when his promising two-year-old daughter Hold My Hand won at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
Second on her only previous start, the Glen Kotzen trained filly was all the rage for Saturday’s Netball South Africa Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1600m and jumped the 4-10 tote favourite.

Under inform Richard Fourie, Hold My Hand, who fought early on, raced midfield early on as Lurox made the running.
She squeezed through a tight gap at the top of the straight, before powering away to score impressively by four lengths.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Hold My Hand is out of the Holy Roman Emperor mare Fly To The Moon.

The promising filly joins Star Coin as early, first crop winners for Trippi’s well performed son Gold Standard.

The latter was one of the best of his generation, with Gold Standard winning the G2 Selangor Cup and finishing second in the G1 Cape Guineas -a race won previously by such champion sires as Captain Al and Jet Master.

Gold Standard has two lots on offer at the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale.
