SEVENTH WINNER FOR ONE WORLD

24 March 2024

Drakenstein Stud’s exciting young stallion One World continues to impress, and the champion son of Captain Al came up with a seventh first-crop winner when his two-year-old daughter Miss World won at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday afternoon.

Making just her second start, the Greg Ennion trained filly stamped herself as a filly to watch when she beat some well bred fillies to claim Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) over 1200 metres.

Under Corne Orffer, Miss World hit the front someway from home and she stayed on nicely to score by a length and a half.

Bred by Rikesh Sewgoolam, Miss World is out of the Dynasty mare Blakes Mistress. The filly was a R110 000 purchase from the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale.

Her G1 Sun Met winning sire One World has made a tremendous start with his early runners also including R1 000 000 G3 City Of Cape Town Cape Of Good Hope Nursery winner One Stripe. The latter has won two of just three starts and he looks destined for G1 company.

One World is currently not only the Leading First Season Sire in South Africa for 2023-2024 but also heads South Africa’s Leading Sires of 2YOs premiership.

The former Equus Champion has some exceptionally well bred yearlings on offer at the upcoming National Yearling Sale, including a half-brother (Lot 40) to G3 Final Fling Stakes winner Love Is A Rose, a filly (Lot 53) out of G1 winner Bambina Stripes, and a filly (Lot 58) out of a winning three-parts sister to five time G1 winner Inara.
