TRIPPI FILLY CLAIMS MAGNOLIA HANDICAP

30 November 2021

Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi is having another excellent season in 2021-2022, and the son of End Sweep enjoyed further graded stakes success on Tuesday, when his daughter Sound Of Warning ran out a courageous winner of the G3 World Sports Betting Magnolia Handicap (1160m) at Turffontein, with that racemeeting having been postponed from Saturday.

Trained by Sean Tarry (who also trained her dam), Sound Of Warning was given a strong ride by visiting jockey Grant Van Niekerk.
The latter kept the Drakenstein Stud bred and owned three-year-old up with the pace for much of the race, with Sound Of Warning showing tremendous courage in the closing stages when fighting off a determined challenge from favourite Big Burn to win by a neck.

A subsequent race review and objection was overruled and the result allowed to stand.

Out of G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic/G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas heroine Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning has now won three of just five starts, with the talented filly also victorious in last season’s G3 Strelitzia Stakes.

Sound Of Warning is one of 84 stakes winners for Trippi, South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016.
The evergreen champion recently enjoyed a graded stakes double when his daughter Amanzimtoti and son Trip Of Fortune captured the G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship and G3 Cape Classic respectively on the same card.

Trippi, whose Selangor Cup winning son Gold Standard is set to be represented by his first runners this season, will be represented by Amanzimtoti in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas and by his champion son Jet Dark in the same day’s G2 WSB Club Prive Green Point Stakes.
